A Fresh Approach to Nursing Education Balance

Session Overview

Are you tired of feeling like nursing education has lost its way, with students not taking enough personal responsibility for their learning journey? It's a common struggle, and one that deserves a fresh perspective. In an era where students can access information instantly—and AI can provide answers in seconds—how do we cultivate the critical thinking and self-direction that nursing practice demands?

In this seminar, we're not just going to talk at you; we're going to collaborate on innovative strategies that empower you, the nursing faculty, to reignite that spark of self-regulated learning within your students. Let's work together to bring back that balance and perspective, making your job not only easier but also more fulfilling and fun!

This seminar delves into innovative strategies to empower you as a nursing faculty member in how to re-establish balance in your practice by assessing and cultivating self-regulated learning skills among your students—while strategically leveraging modern tools to enhance rather than replace critical thinking.

Learning Objectives

By the end of our time together, you'll walk away ready to:

1. Analyze student behaviors to identify patterns of self-regulated learning versus learned helplessness—finally solving the mystery of why some students thrive independently while others need hand-holding for everything

2. Design evidence-based interventions that transform passive learners into engaged, self-directed students who actually want to dig deeper into their learning

3. Implement strategic teaching approaches that cultivate student independence while maintaining the rigor that nursing education demands

4. Evaluate when technology tools (including AI) enhance critical thinking versus when they become expensive academic crutches
