Lifelong Commitment to Sigma's Global Mission:
It is my profound honor to be considered for Vice President of Sigma. With 38 years of sustained leadership in nursing, health policy, and international collaboration, I am committed to advancing Sigma's mission through visionary governance, global engagement, and strategic inclusion.
Strategic Leadership with Global Impact:
Since 1988, I have committed myself to expanding Sigma's global influence and strengthening its leadership impact worldwide. As President of the Lambda Beta-at-Large Chapter-the first and one of the most active Sigma chapters in Asia-I have devoted my leadership to amplifying Sigma's international presence. The chapter has launched over 500 community service initiatives, impacting more than 100,000 individuals. I have also led hundreds of nursing scholars annually to present at Sigma Congress. My tenure on Sigma's Leadership Succession Committee advanced inclusive leadership development and resulted in the creation of a sustainable Pan-Asia Sigma network. These contributions position the chapter, Congress, and committee as premier global platforms for research, diplomacy, and professional advancement.
Scholarly Excellence that Translates into Global Reach:
With over 200 SCI/SSCI publications and five consecutive years listed among Stanford University's World's Top 2% Scientists, I was deeply honored to be inducted into the Sigma International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame-a testament to my enduring commitment to advancing global nursing science. My fellowships in FAAN and FFNMRCSI further reflect my global contributions to the profession.
Global Collaboration to Transform Health Systems:
As Dean of Nursing and Global Engagement at TMU, I established over 300 institutional partnerships across six continents, promoting mutual growth and academic diplomacy. At the national level, I led transformative reforms in Taiwan's long-term care and dementia policies, strengthened psychiatric nursing education, and advocated for progressive mental health legislation. These systemic innovations illustrate how nursing leadership-guided by Sigma's values-can produce a profound impact from local to global levels.
Vision for the Vice Presidency:
1) Collaborate closely with the President to drive strategic initiatives with continuity, transparency, and impact across all regions;
2) Strengthen global chapter development and cultivate culturally inclusive, multilingual leadership pipelines that reflect Sigma's expanding presence;
3) Expand Sigma's influence through policy advocacy and intercontinental partnerships;
4) Ensure fiduciary accountability through service on the Committee and by integrating nursing science into international policy-making forums.
A Global Movement Rooted in Unity and Excellence:
Sigma is more than a society-it is a dynamic global movement uniting visionary nurse leaders to transform health systems through leadership, cultural humility, and compassion. I am fully prepared to serve as Vice President and as a strategic catalyst for meaningful and sustained international collaboration. Together with Sigma's global team, we will empower nurses to lead transformative change in every region of the world. This is a pivotal moment for Sigma to lead with global intelligence and solidarity. By harnessing our collective strength across chapters, disciplines, and continents, we can shape a resilient, empowered nursing workforce and inspire transformative care worldwide."
