It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my candidacy to serve as a Regional Coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Throughout my academic, clinical, and leadership journey, I have remained committed to advancing the nursing profession through scholarship, service, and mentorship. These values align deeply with Sigma Theta Tau’s mission of fostering excellence in nursing.
I bring to this role more than two decades of nursing experience that spans clinical practice, academia, leadership, and advocacy. My educational background reflects my dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth. I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and dual certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I currently serve as a Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s School of Nursing, where I have the privilege of shaping the next generation of nursing leaders through teaching, mentoring, and scholarly engagement.
Beyond academia, I have been intentional in addressing mental health disparities through the founding of the MindHeart Institute and Wellness Center, a practice dedicated to expanding access to psychiatric care across North Carolina. My commitment to improving health outcomes extends to my advocacy work with organizations such as the NBNA’s Brain Health Committee and my involvement with UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Brain Health Equity Nurse Fellowship. These opportunities have allowed me to mentor emerging nurse leaders nationally, fostering a culture of service and collaboration.
Throughout my career, I have embraced opportunities to lead, influence, and contribute to the nursing profession. My previous leadership roles include serving as the Dual-DNP Program Coordinator and Advisory Chair at UNC Charlotte, where I facilitated academic partnerships to support doctoral nursing education. Clinically, I have maintained active roles within primary care, cardiology, eating disorders, and psychiatric settings, providing me with a well-rounded perspective on the evolving needs of healthcare and nursing practice.
My professional journey has been recognized through multiple honors, including induction into Sigma Theta Tau International during my master’s program at Indiana State University. I have also contributed to global scholarship by presenting at a biennial and several Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Research Congress’ across the globe. I understand the significance of global nursing networks in shaping practice, policy, and education, and I am eager to contribute my leadership skills to help advance the Society’s strategic goals at the regional level.
As Regional Coordinator, I would leverage my strengths in relationship-building, mentoring, and program development to support local chapters, foster member engagement, and encourage scholarly excellence. I am committed to helping our members feel connected, valued, and empowered to lead within their communities and beyond. My career reflects a consistent dedication to advocacy, collaboration, and service, notably, the very pillars that support Sigma Theta Tau’s global impact.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to advancing the Society’s mission and working collaboratively with regional and international colleagues to inspire and sustain nursing.
