With over two decades of experience in nursing leadership, education, and chapter engagement, I am honored to be considered once again for the position of Sigma Region 10 Coordinator. Having already served two terms in this role, I bring not only continuity and insight but also a deep commitment to advancing our region’s collective goals.
My professional journey has been deeply rooted in advancing nursing excellence, mentoring emerging leaders, and fostering collaborative networks across academic and clinical settings. I hold both a Bachelor and Master of Nursing from the University of Windsor and have served as a sessional instructor at the University of Windsor, St. Clair College, and Nipissing University. These academic roles have allowed me to shape the next generation of nurses while staying grounded in evidence-based practice and innovation.
My Sigma journey began in 2007 with induction into the Tau Upsilon Chapter. Since then, I have held multiple leadership roles including Newsletter Chair, Secretary, President-Elect, President, Past President, and Treasurer. I have proudly served as a Voting Delegate since 2011 and have been an active member of the Region 10 Conference Planning Committee for over 18 years. In 2018, I was honored to represent Region 10 on the Sigma Global Regional Council, where I contributed to shaping Sigma’s global priorities by voicing the unique challenges and strengths of our region.
Leadership, for me, is about service, mentorship, and vision. I have mentored master’s students, new chapter leaders, and healthcare professionals seeking career advancement. I continue to pursue leadership development opportunities and am passionate about building inclusive, resilient, and forward-thinking communities within Sigma.
If elected for a third term as Region 10 Coordinator, my goals are threefold:
1. Strengthen Chapter Support:
- I would like to hold monthly open office hours where chapters can log on to get help with anything they need real time
- Re-instate regular meetings with pre-planned agendas
- Re-instate regular education sessions for all chapter leaders
2. Foster Regional Collaboration:
- Engage more chapter involvement in the Region 10 conference
- Identify cross regional opportunities for members
3. Champion Improved Recognition:
- Identify ways to make regional recognition easier for chapters to attain
- Support the completion of strategic plans to help direct chapter focus on items that will help chapters to qualify for the Chapter Key Award
- Spotlight chapters that are doing well by having them present for other chapters in the region to learn from
Throughout my Sigma journey, the friendships, mentorships, and shared purpose have been my greatest motivators. I am deeply grateful for the support and understanding I’ve received and am committed to renewing my Sigma focus and giving back by serving our region with integrity, energy, and vision.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving and growing with you
