I am Daniel Arturo Guerrero Gaviria, a dedicated nursing professional and PhD student at Purdue University. With a foundation in nursing from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and diverse experience in education, research, and community service, I bring a global perspective and a deep commitment to advancing nursing practice, research and leadership.
My journey has taken me from the classroom to simulation labs, from research projects to humanitarian missions. I’ve served as a teaching assistant at Purdue’s Center for Nursing Education and Simulation, an Assistant Professor Scholar in Colombia, and a contributor to international initiatives through Sigma. My research focuses on family caregiving in a chronic disease context, and I am passionate about multiculturality in healthcare and mentoring. I’ve also held leadership roles in both at a chapter and regional level, both in Colombia and in the US.
I will focus on five key goals:
1. Fostering collaboration among chapters in our region to strengthen our collective impact.
2. Promoting and celebrating the work of our members, ensuring their contributions are visible and valued.
3. Supporting chapters in achieving their goals in alignment with Sigma’s mission and vision.
4. Encouraging submissions for the Chapter Key Awards, recognizing excellence and inspiring continued growth.
5. Hosting a regional event to showcase members’ research, practice, and policy innovations, creating a vibrant space for knowledge exchange.
With a passion for nursing education, equity, and community engagement, I am committed to building bridges across cultures. I believe in the power of collaboration and shared leadership to elevate our profession and make a lasting difference.
