It is with great enthusiasm and commitment to nursing excellence that I submit my candidacy for the position of Sigma North America Regional Coordinator-North America Region 6. As an experienced academic, nurse leader, and lifelong learner, I bring a diverse background of leadership, scholarship, and service that aligns with Sigma’s mission of advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence.
Throughout my career, I have been privileged to serve in various academic and organizational leadership roles, which have strengthened my passion for empowering nurses to lead transformative changes. As an Assistant Professor and nurse scientist, I advocate for culturally responsive care, equity in nursing education, and the integration of innovative technologies in healthcare. These values align with Sigma’s mission to develop nurse leaders anywhere to improve healthcare everywhere.
My leadership journey includes serving as Editorial Chair, Research & Grant Chair, and Governing Board Member for the National Association of Indian Nurses of America, Executive Board member of Indian American Nurses Association of Greater Houston, Leadership Succession Committee Chair for Beta Beta Houston Chapter, Leadership Succession Committee member of Southern Nursing Research Society. I am also a Nurse Faculty Sigma Leadership Academy Scholar with expertise in leadership.
I have developed and led numerous scholarly and community initiatives, including infection prevention education programs, evidence-based research on health disparities, and interdisciplinary collaborations advancing cultural competence and equity in nursing. I am also a professional member of the National Academies of Practice class of 2025.
In my current service on professional boards and mentoring roles, I have collaborated with diverse teams to strengthen chapter vitality, promote professional development, and support scholarly growth. If elected as Regional Coordinator, I will serve as a bridge between Sigma headquarters and our regional chapters, ensuring open communication, supporting chapter success, and promoting opportunities for leadership and engagement.
I am committed to advancing Sigma’s strategic goals by enhancing access to resources that empower members’ professional advancement, strengthening global and local connections to nursing excellence, and encouraging innovation and collaboration to transform healthcare delivery.
As Regional Coordinator, I will serve as a strategic liaison and advocate, strengthening chapter collaboration, supporting leadership development, and amplifying the voice of nurses across North America. Sigma has been instrumental in shaping my leadership, and I am committed to giving back through servant leadership and a shared vision of global nursing excellence.
