I am honored to submit my candidacy for Regional Coordinator of North America Region 5. As a dedicated member of Sigma Theta Tau for many years, I bring a unique combination of clinical expertise, educational leadership, and organizational vision that positions me to effectively serve our region's diverse chapters.
My nursing career spans multiple domains, providing me with comprehensive insights into the challenges and opportunities facing our profession. In my current role as Director and Assistant Professor, I lead strategic initiatives that prepare the next generation of nurses while maintaining strong connections to clinical practice. This academic position has sharpened my skills in program development, stakeholder engagement, and resource optimization—all essential capabilities for regional coordination. My experience as Director: Education within a nursing association has been particularly formative, exposing me to the complexities of delivering educational opportunities across various formats and audiences. This role required me to understand diverse learning needs, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and measure educational outcomes—skills directly transferable to supporting chapters across our region. Throughout my career in acute care hospitals and healthcare systems, I have held numerous nursing leadership positions that demanded strategic thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to drive organizational change. These experiences have taught me how to navigate complex healthcare environments while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes and professional development. As Vice President of our local Sigma Theta Tau chapter, I am deeply engaged in the daily challenges that chapters face today. I consistently explore innovative methods to increase membership, enhance community services, generate sustainable revenue streams, and ensure meaningful return on investment for our members. This hands-on experience has given me valuable insights into the practical realities of chapter operations and the support systems that regional coordination can provide.
My approach to these challenges emphasizes evidence-based solutions, collaborative learning, and resource sharing. I believe that successful chapters are built on strong foundations of member engagement, community partnerships, and strategic planning. However, I also recognize that each chapter operates within unique contexts that require tailored approaches and flexible support systems. What excites me most about this opportunity is the prospect of facilitating knowledge exchange among chapters facing similar challenges. I am committed to creating platforms for sharing best practices, innovative solutions, and lessons learned. My goal is to establish a regional network where chapters can learn from each other's successes and collectively address common obstacles. I bring fresh perspective combined with deep respect for Sigma Theta Tau's mission and values. While I am new to regional coordination, this presents an opportunity to approach challenges with innovative thinking while building on the strong foundation established by previous coordinators. I am prepared to dedicate the time, energy, and passion necessary to support our region's chapters in achieving their goals while advancing the honor society's mission of developing nurses to lead in improving global health. I respectfully request your support and look forward to serving with distinction. Thank you.
