Regional Coordinator (RC) - North America, Region 5

It is with great enthusiasm and deep respect for Sigma International that I submit my candidacy for the position of Regional Coordinator.

I am an Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing in Missouri, where I bring together my unique professional journey that began in journalism and transitioned into nursing and education. Before joining the nursing profession, I spent over a decade serving in academic and student affairs to facilitate and support the learning and growth of undergraduate students across campus. Since earning my BSN through an accelerated program, I have focused my nursing practice on caring for older adults in long-term care and have served as an educator for LPN and BSN students over the past eight years.

I was inducted into the Alpha Iota Chapter in 2011 and have proudly served as a chapter leader since 2018, including roles as Counselor, Convention Delegate, and Leadership Succession Chair and committee member. As Counselor, I helped reestablish partnerships with two other area academic institutions, inducting their undergraduate and graduate nursing students into our chapter each semester—a key step in rebuilding community ties and expanding our reach. These roles have deepened my appreciation for Sigma’s mission and the powerful impact of chapter collaboration and leadership.

Under our chapter's collective leadership, Alpha Iota was honored to receive its first Chapter Key Award in 2021 and its second in 2023. These accomplishments reflect the dedication, innovation, and collaboration that define our members. Our recent 60th anniversary celebration was a powerful reminder of our chapter’s legacy and dedication, and we were honored to welcome President Bibbs as our guest speaker for the event.

My experience as a delegate to the 46th Biennial Convention in 2021 was transformative. There, I met leaders from across the globe, sparked inter-chapter dialogues, and built lasting friendships with educators and clinicians from across the nation. These discussions, rooted in shared goals and challenges, blossomed into a collaborative presentation at the 47th Biennial Convention in 2023, where we highlighted the value of chapter networking and mutual support. These moments of connection and recognition are central to sustaining vibrant chapters.

This collaborative spirit is at the heart of what I hope to bring to the role of Regional Coordinator. I believe in the power of communication, connection, and collective wisdom. I’ve seen firsthand how chapters can thrive when we share ideas, celebrate achievements, and tackle challenges together.

Encouraged by a past Regional Coordinator I met at that 2021 convention, I now seek to give back by serving Region 5 in this vital liaison role. I am committed to being a responsive, collaborative, and enthusiastic resource for all of our chapters. I believe in the strength of shared wisdom and the power of working together to meet challenges and lift each other up. It would be an honor to serve as Regional Coordinator and to continue championing the vision and mission of Sigma across Region 5.
