Hello, my name is Clarissa Waletzko, PhD, RN, EBPC and I have been selected to be on the ballot for the role of Regional Coordinator-North America Region 2.
I have been thinking of offering my time beyond our local chapter for a while now and reached out to Sigma Theta Tau International to see what opportunities were available. When I received the call for Regional Coordinator America Region 2, I thought what an opportunity if I am selected.
I am the past president of Alpha Beta Theta Chapter in El Paso, Texas. I currently attend chapter meetings and participate in regional conference planning for the border region.
Our chapter is relatively new. We started our chapter journey in 2018 and pursued it until we were awarded chapter status in April 8, 2022. I remember being excited to achieve chapter status as it was the first for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso.
Since achieving chapter status, we have worked with our colleagues in the border region to present four Sigma Research Regional Conferences. We have conducted seven induction ceremonies and seven member events. I attended the 47th Sigma Theta Tau International Biennium convention in 2023 in San Antonio, Texas to present my research poster as well attend the House of Delegates as Alpha Beta Theta Chapter president.
I have 21 years of clinical leadership experience and 2 years' experience in Sigma Leadership. While serving as Alpha Beta Tau Chapter President, I continued to serve as Faculty Senate President at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Faculty Council Chair, and Curriculum Committee Chair, while teaching 5 courses. I also served as Texas Nurses Association District I president in El Paso from 2018-2020.
My leadership experience enables me to feel capable of serving as the Regional Coordinator-North America Region 2 as the time commitment involves acting as a liaison between Sigma and other chapters, recruiting responsibilities, leading regional committee within the region to support chapters, hosting four to six regional chapter leader calls, conducting webinars, and using the officer connect workgroup on the Circle as well as providing chapter assistance with the development of strategic plans with other chapters who require assistance. I believe attending the leadership conferences or similar programs in the region along with house of delegate sessions is part of the responsibilities I can achieve.
I have strong work ethic and will work hard to meet the obligations of the office I am seeking. Please consider me for the Regional Coordinator-North America Region 2 position.
Thank you.
