Regional Coordinator (RC) - Middle East

Wafaa Bin Ali

PhD, MSN, BSN, RN

It is a profound honor to be selected for the ballot as Middle East Regional Coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. As a passionate leader, educator, and researcher, I have dedicated my career to advancing nursing practice, empowering professionals, and strengthening academic and clinical excellence in nursing. With over two decades of experience in critical care nursing and higher education, I currently serve as an Assistant Professor at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, where I previously held leadership roles as Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Head of the Nursing Department. My leadership experience includes curriculum development, quality assurance, strategic planning, inter and intra-institutional collaborations, and faculty development. I successfully supports simulation-based learning at the college of nursing, expanded clinical training opportunities, and led impactful student-centered initiatives.

I proudly serve as the founding President of the Alpha Beta Sigma At-Large Chapter and was appointed in 2023 as the Sigma Middle East Regional Coordinator. In this role, I have championed collaboration across regional chapters, promoted member engagement, and initiated activities that celebrate scholarship, innovation, and leadership. With a deep appreciation for Sigma's mission, I have organized regional town halls, led efforts to increase recognition and visibility for chapters, developed regional awards to celebrate excellence, and support collaboration between chapters to hold Sigma events in the region.

My professional journey includes active membership in Sigma since 2013, as well as involvement in international research collaborations and publications in critical care and nursing education. I have mentored students and faculty in research and scholarship and served on numerous university and national-level committees. These roles have allowed me to advocate for nursing advancement through research, innovation, and empowerment.

As a candidate, I bring a unique blend of academic leadership, regional insight, and unwavering commitment to Sigma’s values. I am a strategic thinker, skilled in operational management, governance, and program development. I am also a strong believer in inclusivity, capacity-building, and fostering future nursing leaders.

If elected, I will continue to strengthen the unity and impact of Sigma chapters in the Middle East, promote inter-chapter collaboration, and support capacity development across diverse cultural and healthcare systems. I will work closely with chapter leaders to support member retention and engagement, ensure representation at international levels, and highlight the contributions of Middle Eastern nurses to global health.

I am humbled by this opportunity and energized by what we can accomplish together. I believe deeply in Sigma’s global mission and in the transformative power of nursing leadership. With your support, I will strive to amplify our regional voice and continue building a vibrant and thriving Middle East Region.

Thank you for your consideration and trust.
