President-elect
Jose Alejandro-White
PhD, RN, NEA-BC, MBA, CCM, CNE, FACHE, FAAN
As a dedicated national and international nurse executive, I bring over 30 years of extensive experience to the table. My journey spans advanced practice, clinical care, care management, military service, academic instruction, and leadership in national and international associations. This wealth of experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead effectively in the international nursing community.
I am making significant contributions as a Nurse Scientist for Special Projects at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In this role, I mentor nurses in Quality Improvement (QI), Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and Research Fellowships, and serve as a consultant on clinical enterprise redesign across the country. My executive leadership, research, and magnet experience have been instrumental in improving clinical outcomes and increasing patient and staff engagement.
My commitment to the nursing community is evident in my extensive service in associations. I have served as President of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, the Case Management Society of America, and the Organization of Associate Degree Nursing Foundation. My Vice President's service includes the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nursing Associations. I have also served as Treasurer for Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Association of Men in Nursing, the Case Management Society of America (twice), and the American Nurses Association - California. Additionally, I have served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Nursing, the American Association of Men in Nursing, the Florida Nurses Association, and the Texas Nurses Association.
My Sigma experience includes an additional four years as Treasurer of the International Honor Society of Nursing Building Corporation. I chaired the Audit and Finance Committee and the Risk Committee for four years, offering financial oversight and guiding strategic risk management. Throughout my civilian and military career, I have been an active and engaged member of multiple Sigma chapters—including Beta Beta Chapter (Texas Women's University Dallas) Iota Sigma (Azusa Pacific University), Phi Lambda (Mount St. Mary's University), Omicron Delta (University of Phoenix), Delta Beta-at-Large (University of South Florida), and Delta Theta (University of Texas at Arlington). My contributions across these chapters have included serving on the board, leadership succession planning, coordinating Research Day, organizing induction ceremonies, and participating in community outreach initiatives. Beyond formal leadership, I have volunteered at six biennia, moderated several Circle Communities, and actively supported global nursing dialogue and connection. My efforts have included bilingual keynote speeches, lectures on the value of Sigma membership, and mentorship in population-level research. I have also led financial literacy sessions and workshops on building business cases for quality and performance improvement.
If elected, I will concentrate on strengthening chapter collaboration, expanding mentorship pathways, and promoting innovation that aligns with Sigma's values of scholarship, leadership, and service. I am committed to fostering a culture of innovation and diversity that will shape the future of our profession. It would be my honor to serve and help advance Sigma's global mission of transforming nursing through excellence in scholarship, leadership and service.
