I am honored to be considered for the Leadership Succession Committee (LSC) of Sigma Theta Tau International. As a long-standing Sigma member, I view this opportunity not only as a privilege but as a responsibility to cultivate and empower future nurse leaders who will carry forward our mission of transforming global healthcare through scholarship, leadership, and service.
I currently serve as Associate Professor in the Department of Graduate Studies in Nursing at Adelphi University’s College of Nursing and Public Health, where I teach across undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs. My teaching focuses on theoretical foundations, knowledge development, leadership, and evidence-based practice. I also mentor honors students, graduate education scholars, and doctoral candidates. Within Sigma, I proudly serve as the Webmaster of the Alpha Omega Chapter and have experience serving as a Chapter Delegate at the biennial convention.
My scholarship is grounded in the humanbecoming paradigm. As an experienced Parse scholar, my work explores universal humanuniverse experiences, including feeling overwhelmed and feeling betrayed, particularly in contexts involving HIV/AIDS care and advocacy. I serve as Contributing Editor for Theoretical Concerns and Copyeditor for References for Nursing Science Quarterly, a journal dedicated to advancing nursing knowledge. These roles underscore my ongoing commitment to nursing science and theoretical inquiry.
Nationally, I serve as Co-Chair of the Research Interest Group in Nursing Theory and Development within the Eastern Nursing Research Society. I am also a founding member, former Research and Scholarship Chair, and served as Director-at-Large of the National Consortium of Academic Nurse Educators. I am board certified in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) and currently serve as an AACN Essentials Champion at my institution, where I support curriculum transformation aligned with national standards.
What inspires me to serve on the LSC is the opportunity to help shape Sigma’s leadership future by identifying and supporting diverse, visionary nurses who reflect our organization’s global presence and inclusive ideals. I bring extensive experience in faculty development, mentoring, and academic leadership, along with a passion for fostering innovation, integrity, and inclusivity in nursing.
If elected, I will work collaboratively to ensure that Sigma’s leadership pipeline remains vibrant and reflective of the dynamic global profession we serve. I am committed to supporting leadership that is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and courage, and to honoring the spirit of connected, empowered nurse leaders who believe, as I do, that nursing is a force for meaningful change in the world.
