I am honored to seek your support for a position on Sigma Theta Tau International's Leadership Succession Committee Member. My professional journey has been shaped by more than two decades of service as a nurse educator, chapter leader, community advocate, and scholarly work. Each experience reinforcing my commitment to collaborative transformational leadership and global engagement.
As Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University, I guide aspiring nurse leaders through evidence-informed instruction that prioritizes interprofessional collaboration, reflective practice, and patient-centered care. My doctoral work in Educational Leadership focused on creating a healthy work environment and a clinical climate conducive to staff retention. I presented my quality improvement project on violence risk assessment and the use of mitigating interventions to prevent escalating patient behavior towards safety events in local, regional, and international conferences including research at AACN, Biennium, and CHWE.
I bring a broad portfolio of leadership experiences within Sigma, including serving as Chapter President for Gamma Kappa (2023-2025), Governance and Education Committee member for Omicron Delta, and active contributor to other professional organizations. My engagement extends nationally and internationally where I have led chapter development initiatives in the local community, and co-facilitated scholarly conferences with the Professional Nurses Association of Western New York (PNA-WNY) in collaboration with Pi Zeta, Zeta Nu, and Gamma Theta to advance shared learning among academic and clinical institutions in Buffalo, New York. I also render volunteer services during international conferences as a delegate helper, master timer, moderator, and poster set-ups, and abstract reviewer.
In addition to my Sigma leadership, I contribute to certification and academic advancement initiatives through the National League of Nursing (NLN), American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), CGFNS, American Journal of Nursing (AJN), and Cengage Learning as an exam item writer, abstract reviewer, and content contributor. These activities advocate for education that reflects integrity, accountability, and excellence. My involvement with these professional organizations leverage my passion for collaboration, partnership, and networking which I strongly believe are essential in the position I am seeking.
Should I be elected to the Leadership Succession Committee, my goal is to cultivate meaningful pathways for diverse, values-driven nurse leaders. I envision a leadership pipeline that honors Sigma's rich legacy while embracing innovation, equity, and intergenerational mentoring. I will work to identify emerging talent across chapters, build bridges between regions, and support transparent processes that elevate leaders committed to stewardship and servant leadership. I bring thoughtful inquiry, strategic foresight, and a passion for relationship-based engagement. My approach blends evidence, ethics, and empathy and reflects a belief that leadership is a shared responsibility rooted in devotion, perseverance, and purpose.
It would be a privilege to serve and give back to the Sigma community that has profoundly shaped my professional journey.
Thank you for your consideration.
