I am honored to be nominated as a candidate for the Leadership Succession Committee of Sigma Theta Tau International. As a global nurse leader, educator, and researcher with more than 20 years of experience, I bring a strong commitment to service, mentorship, and excellence in nursing leadership.
Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor at Georgetown University School of Nursing, where I lead public health nursing education and serve on numerous university-wide and national committees focused on scholarship, equity, and health policy. I am the current president of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter, where I have previously served as president-elect and awards chair. My leadership within Sigma has emphasized member engagement, interprofessional collaboration, and support for emerging nurse leaders through mentorship and recognition.
My academic and professional journey spans the U.S., the Middle East, and Europe, focusing on child health, vulnerable populations, nursing education innovation, and community-based research. I am a Fulbright Specialist, having partnered with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population to strengthen national nursing education. I’ve also worked with national and international partners to design nursing curricula and support healthcare reform efforts rooted in equity and access.
I hold a PhD and MSc in Nursing from the University of Nottingham (UK), a Master in Community and Public Health, and a BSN in Nursing. My scholarship includes over 80 peer-reviewed publications and numerous invited presentations at national and international conferences. I have served as a reviewer and editor for high-impact journals and have supported countless faculty and students in their scholarly development.
My vision for serving on the “Leadership Succession Committee” is grounded in transparency, inclusion, and global engagement. I aim to identify and elevate diverse leaders who reflect the richness of our profession across geographic, cultural, and practice contexts. If elected, I will work to:
- Advance equitable and inclusive leadership pipelines within Sigma.
- Expand outreach to underrepresented regions and communities.
- Foster mentorship networks that connect early-career nurses with seasoned leaders globally.
- Support strategic planning for future leadership needs in alignment with Sigma’s mission.
I believe the future of nursing leadership must be visionary and anchored in service. Sigma’s global reach and mission to develop nurse leaders who improve health outcomes align closely with my personal and professional goals. I would be honored to contribute to shaping its leadership future.
Thank you for your trust and consideration.
