Greetings,
I’m Nancy Goldstein, Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. I am deeply committed to Sigma’s mission and values and am honored to be a candidate for the Leadership Succession Committee (4-year term).
For over two decades, I’ve been an active member of Sigma and the Nu Beta at-Large Chapter, serving in numerous leadership roles including President, Past President (Mentor), Board Member, Treasurer, and Chair of the Governance Committee. I also contributed to the Chapter Induction Task Force and the International Review Committee. One of my proudest achievements was leading the effort to establish the Chapter at-Large, formally uniting the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing with six hospitals in the Johns Hopkins Health System. This collaboration has expanded opportunities for research, education, leadership, and community service.
As a member of the Leadership Succession Committee, I aim to support the development of future leaders, assist in the selection of nominees, and help prepare the biennial ballot. This role aligns with my passion for mentoring and my vision of ensuring Sigma continues to cultivate strong, capable leaders who will transform healthcare globally.
Beyond Sigma, I am actively involved in the American Nurses Association (ANA), Maryland Nurses Association (MNA), and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. I’ve served on the ANA/MNA Bylaws and Policies Committee, Finance Committee, and Leadership Committee. I was President and now serve as Past President of MNA District 2. I also chaired the MNA Educational Summit in 2017 and 2021, organizing seminars on addiction, palliative care, legal issues, and leadership through service.
At Johns Hopkins, I teach across graduate pre-licensure and doctoral programs and advise students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. As a Nurse Practitioner, I mentor students in clinical care, leadership, and scholarly projects. I’ve presented my work at multiple Sigma conferences internationally, as well as national and local conferences focused on nursing education and care for underserved populations with addiction disorders.
I’ve been honored with several awards, including the 2023 Johns Hopkins Center for Nursing Inquiry Honor, 2022 MNA Outstanding Educator of the Year, 2021 MNA Superhero Award, and 2021 Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Baltimore Daily Record Health Care Heroes. I also received the 2020 MNA Stierle Exemplary Service Award and the AHA Superstar Walker Award annually from 2012 to 2024.
I believe in celebrating nursing achievements and supporting nurses as they grow into leadership roles, advance their scholarship, and serve their communities. I am committed to mentoring, educating, and uplifting nurses at all levels. It would be a privilege to continue this work as a member of the Leadership Succession Committee.
