With over 25 years of progressive leadership experience in military, academic, and multinational healthcare organizations, I bring a disciplined, mission-driven, and globally-informed perspective as a candidate to Sigma’s International Governance Committee. My leadership journey began as a military nursing officer, where I cultivated the discipline, adaptability, and team leadership required in high-stakes environments. This foundation, combined with my passion for nursing excellence and education, has equipped me to lead transformational programs across diverse healthcare systems.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a Master’s in Sociology, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership (DNP) degree. Leadership assessments have consistently highlighted my transformational leadership style—rooted in strong communication, positivity, creativity, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment. I have successfully led initiatives in Magnet designation, evidence-based practice (EBP), shared governance, professional mentoring, and staff engagement, and I regularly present at national and international forums to advance nursing excellence.
Professionally, I’ve held leadership roles such as Magnet Program Director, Clinical Excellence Program Manager, Staff Development Administrator, and Clinical Instructor. I’ve also been recognized with awards such as the DFW Great 100 Nurses, the D-Magazine Nurse Excellence in Leadership Award, and the Visionary Leader award, affirming my commitment to clinical and organizational excellence. My ongoing engagement in leadership roles spans the local to international level—including Board of Director roles on community boards and active participation in nursing executive organizations in both the U.S. and India.
At Sigma, I have served in various leadership roles. In the current biennium I serve as a chapter President, the North American Region 7 coordinator, and a mentor-coordinator in Sigma’s Global Leadership Mentoring Community (GLMC)—where I’ve had the privilege of mentoring future leaders while also learning directly from Sigma presidents and international nursing leaders. I have volunteered and served as session moderator in conferences, Chapter Key Award judge, mentor and induction ceremony keynote speaker. Previously I have served internationally, as an elected member of the Sigma Leadership Succession Committee. My collaborative work has also led to launching an international EBP academy in partnership with Johns Hopkins University, aimed at advancing nursing practice in underrepresented regions.
I am a firm believer in Sigma’s mission: developing nurse leaders anywhere to improve healthcare everywhere, which aligns with my personal mission of learning and sharing with next generation nurses and leaders. As someone with cross-cultural experience and deep engagement in leadership development, I recognize the importance of inclusive, future-ready governance. I will be a voice for underrepresented nurses globally and help Sigma grow its impact in emerging countries like India through intentional outreach, mentorship, and international collaboration.
As the elected member of Sigma’s International Governance Committee, I will bring strategic foresight, inclusive leadership, and unwavering commitment to uphold Sigma’s core values. I will work diligently to support a transparent, equitable governance process that cultivates the next generation of nurse leaders.
