If you are an Sigma member, go to The Circle to download the chapter style guide and a JPEG file of the Sigma logo. If you would like a vector image of the logo or crest, complete this form and your request will be reviewed as soon as possible.

If you are not an Sigma member and would like to request use of Sigma's official logo, contact marketing@sigmanursing.org. In your email, provide detailed information regarding your intended use. Permission to use the logo or crest is granted on a case-by-case basis, and reasonable notice should be given. Approvals are for one-time use only.

Virginia K. Saba, Nursing Informatics pioneer and Sigma award benefactor, has died

INDIANAPOLIS —The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) today joined with other nursing and informatics organizations mourning the passing of nursing informatics pioneer Virginia K. Saba, EdD, Honorary PhD, DS, RN, FAAN, FACMI, LL. Dr. Saba passed away Saturday, 20 November 2021, following a brief illness.

Details of arrangements to celebrate Dr. Saba’s extraordinary life will follow.

Dr. Saba was a longtime Sigma member and supporter. She established a fund for Sigma’s Virginia K. Saba Nursing Informatics Leadership Award, which honors an individual for his or her innovative and cutting-edge work in the field of nursing informatics and whose work has resulted in a significant development and sustained contributions to advance the discipline of nursing informatics. “Dr. Virginia K. Saba was a giant in the nursing community who saw early on that technology, computers, and the internet would become tools critical to nursing,” Sigma President Kenneth Dion, PhD, MBA, MSN, RN, FAAN, said. “Like others, I mourn her passing, but I also celebrate the tremendous impact of her and her life’s work. Through her endowment of the Virginia K. Saba Nursing Informatics Leadership Award, she ensured the nurse informaticists who follow in her footsteps will continue to get the recognition they deserve.”
