Updated Sigma title guides nurses to emotional and psychological fulfillment

INDIANAPOLIS—Reflecting, recalibrating, reimagining, rethinking, and reframing the work of nursing care is the focus in Reflective Practicethe highly anticipated third edition of Reflective Practice by Sara Horton-Deutsch and Gwen D. Sherwood. As with previous editions, this book responds to societal needs and continues to incorporate the QSEN competencies, expands Caring Science, addresses new AACN Essentials and the revised ANA definition of nursing, and threads diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout.

As nurses continue to leave the profession, it is more important than ever for healthcare education and practice settings to respond. In Reflective Practice, readers find a road map for nurse educators and nurses to reimagine learning environments and a guide for learners to develop literacies and competencies for building effective relationships, psychologically safe and inclusive environments, and meaning and purpose. Throughout this edition, readers will find adaptable exercises and micropractices that bring awareness of invisible biases contributing to microaggressions and teaching boxes that provide exemplars and instructions to help nurses with practical applications.

Reflective Practice, Third Edition, is a timely resource considering the current healthcare landscape post-pandemic. It acknowledges the critical role of nurses in healthcare and addresses the widespread challenges they face, including burnout and attrition,” said author Sara Horton-Deutsch.
