New Sigma title equips and empowers leaders to envision, expand, and transform the current healthcare system

INDIANAPOLIS—COVID-19 exposed the faults and inequities in the global healthcare system and has subsequently Visionary Leadership in Healthcarecreated a paradigm shift. In Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing’s (Sigma) latest title, Visionary Leadership in Healthcare: Excellence in Practice, Policy, and Ethics, authors Holly Wei and Sara Horton-Deutsch discuss how leadership styles must evolve to go beyond an illness narrative to one that focuses on health and healing.

Visionary Leadership in Healthcare emphasizes collaboration and partnerships along with a call to move away from hierarchical forms of leadership to more engaged, open, equitable, inclusive, authentic, and caring leadership styles. In a book meant for both clinicians and academics, Wei and Horton-Deutsch, along with well-respected contributing authors, discuss leadership theories in organizations; fostering healthy work environments; applying novice leadership theories to practice, collaborating, leading change, and innovating; and envisioning the future of healthcare leadership.

Author Holly Wei said, Visionary Leadership in Healthcare “addresses the leadership needs in the most challenging areas facing healthcare today, including organizational trauma, collective trauma, post-traumatic growth, disaster preparedness and response, work environment, and building workforce resilience.”
