Toxic Nursing: Managing Bullying, Bad Attitudes and Total Turmoil provides strategies, tools, and techniques for new and experienced nurse leaders to defuse conflict and create a healthy work environment.
INDIANAPOLIS—Nurse managers lead the largest healthcare workforce in the industry. They not only need to be clinically competent, but they also have to be adept at relating to others and be gifted administrators. But in a profession that is prone to workplace conflict, incivility, bullying, and meanness, too few nurse leaders have been trained in its resolution. The second edition of Toxic Nursing: Managing Bullying, Bad Attitudes, and Total Turmoil from Sigma Nursing aims to change that.
In this updated edition, author Cheryl Dellasega provides strategies, tools, and techniques for new and experienced nurse leaders to defuse conflict and create a healthy work environment. Each chapter highlights issues that contribute to a toxic work environment and provides scenarios, insights, and reflections to guide nurse leaders on a path toward transformational leadership. This updated edition contains a new chapter on social media, electronic communication, and professionalism, as well as revamped examples and a new appendix about compassion fatigue.
Toxic Nursing is meant to help “nurses not only survive the challenges of healthcare today but thrive and develop professionally,” said author Cheryl Dellasega.
