Global Regional Council

Why were Global Regional Councils created?

Global Regional Councils serve as regional champions for Sigma. Members of the Global Regional Council volunteer their professional expertise, diverse knowledge of nursing perspectives and philanthropic opportunities, connections to local, regional or international resources, colleagues or peers, and other advice and assistance to achieve the mission of Sigma. They bring regional concerns to the forefront, help identify actionable items, and help spread the word about the essential work of Sigma.

Global Regional Councils are designed to:

  • Enhance regional engagement and provide a collaborative foundation for a regional presence in each region of the world by:
    • Identify the needs of nurses (members/nonmembers) and other stakeholders within the region that fall within the mission of Sigma, and recommend how Sigma can empower chapters and members in meeting those needs
    • Increase the visibility and credibility of Sigma in the region
    • Build professional relationships, strategic alliances, and identify partnering opportunities for Sigma
    • Support strategic relationships and promote collaboration between Sigma and key stakeholders
  • Assist with regional programs/events, in collaboration with Regional Coordinator
  • Implement or expand existing Sigma headquarters-coordinated programs, events, and projects within the region
  • Recommend options for future, expanded Sigma regional presence
