Sigma Chief Executive Officer Liz Madigan has announced she will step down from her position. The Sigma International Board of Directors has accepted her resignation effective 31 October 2023.
Dr. Madigan’s six-year tenure as CEO encompassed the COVID-19 era, which was marked by seismic shifts to remote work and virtual events, as well as disruptions to nursing and healthcare worldwide. Dr. Madigan ensured that Sigma retained its staff and continued to deliver and enhance member services during and after the pandemic, and that the organization remained financially sound. During her tenure, Sigma added 72 new chapters, including those in 12 new countries: Ireland, Jamaica, Israel, Scotland, Italy, Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Indonesia, Finland, Chile, and Sierra Leone.
Sigma 2021-2023 President Kenneth Dion said, “On behalf of the Sigma International Board of Directors, staff, and members worldwide, I thank Liz for her faithful service to the organization as CEO. She provided valued leadership and guidance during a time of unprecedented volatility. We are grateful for her contributions, and we wish her the very best in all her future endeavors.”
The Sigma International Board of Directors will conduct a CEO search following the 2023 Sigma Biennial Convention in November. The search will begin before the end of 2023.
