INDIANAPOLIS—The newest title from Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) will help simplify the evidence-based practice process for clinical nurses. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic healthcare delivery systems, uses the evidence-based practice PEACE model to prepare all its nurses and position them as essential to improving patient and family-centered care. Now, nurses everywhere can replicate this highly successful model.
At NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, said co-author Reynaldo R. Rivera, the PEACE model helped build a “culture of inquiry, advancing nursing science, and improving patient care outcomes.”
In The PEACE Model Evidence-Based Practice Guide for Clinical Nurses, authors Reynaldo R. Rivera and Joyce J. Fitzpatrick provide a road map to model implementation. Readers will learn to formulate and address clinical questions and disseminate findings, ultimately helping nurses integrate evidence at the bedside through quality research.
“The PEACE model empowers clinical nurses to embrace the various stages of inquiry,” said co-author Joyce J. Fitzpatrick. “We need to make it possible for nurses at the point-of-care and at the bedside to recognize patient and family problems and then turn their attention to solutions.”
