Yes, Sigma sent an email that “Your privacy is Important to us”

The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) recently implemented a required security upgrade to its single sign-on system. Due to this upgrade, certain members will be required to reset their passwords in order to access My Membership and other login-protected sites. On Wednesday, 22 January 2020, we sent an email to several thousand Sigma members with information about this requirement.

We have received several member emails questioning whether these emails are legitimate.

If you recently received a Sigma email with the subject line “Your privacy is important to us,” it is a legitimate organizational email sent by Sigma, and it is not a phishing scam.

The questions we received indicate our members are practicing good email awareness, since phishing scams often use a sender email address that is close to, but differs slightly from, the correct one. As always, please continue to verify the sender address on emails you receive and confirm that any links within the body of any email take you to the correct, login-protected site.
Thank you.
