Advancing nursing excellence with the Johns Hopkins Nursing Professional Practice Model

New STTI publication offers nurses, hospital management guide to delivering exceptional care and outcomes

Developing an environment where nurses can flourish requires a supportive infrastructure and a culture that fosters collaboration, stimulates innovation, and empowers them to achieve success in exceptional ways.

The Johns Hopkins Nursing Professional Practice Model: Strategies to Advance Nursing Excellence, published by the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), is a how-to guide building such an infrastructure by implementing one of the most well-known professional practice models.

Written by Johns Hopkins Nursing experts Deborah Dang, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, Judith Rohde, ScD, RN, NEA-BC, and Jeannette Suflita, MA, MS, this book offers practical strategies, planning tools, and self-assessment guides as a means of inspiring readers to deliver exceptional care and outcomes in nursing.

“Nurses at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Nursing have labored long and have been an inspiration in embracing professional practice in nursing,” said Rohde. “My co-authors and I want to ensure that this professional practice model is disseminated in a formal manner to the nursing community, thereby highlighting our nurses’ wonderful accomplishments.”
