In collaboration with Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Sigma is proud to present our first-ever hackathon! This three-hour session is offered free to the first 50 attendees who sign up. Hackathon participants will form groups upon arrival, be given information regarding the topic, develop a scientific write-up (executive summary) including marketing and budget information, and give a 3-5-minute pitch to a panel of judges. Judges will determine 1st through 3rd place. The winning group will receive three hours with Johns Hopkins innovators to further develop their idea.
The purpose of this activity is to bring researchers together from throughout the world with complementary skills and knowledge to develop innovative solutions. Subsequently, this work may provide the momentum needed to launch a new collaboration, form the basis for a joint funding proposal, and ultimately, a research project with associated dissemination activities (e.g., manuscripts, scientific presentations).
Sigma will not claim intellectual property rights and is not responsible for idea stealing between groups or group members. Laptops are highly recommended but not required. Winners will be announced at the closing plenary and presented with certificates.
