Sigma/American Nurses Credentialing Center Evidence-Based Practice Implementation Grant

Purpose

The Sigma Foundation for Nursing/American Nurses Credentialing Center Evidence-Based Practice Implementation Grant encourages nurses in clinical settings to apply evidence to practice and evaluate the effects on patient outcomes.

Research Funding

The grant will be evaluated and awarded based on the quality of the proposal which includes: background and significance; problem statement including EBP model; evidence synthesis providing support for proposed intervention; goals with time frame; estimated magnitude for improvement to patient care and outcomes; implementation strategy; evaluation plan for implementation and outcomes; budget. Funding for this grant is made possible thanks to support from Hill-Rom. Funds for this grant do not cover expenses incurred prior to the funding date, nor do they cover publication costs or travel for presentations. This grant is sponsored by Hill-Rom.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Principal project lead must be a registered nurse (or country equivalent) with current license and have at least a master's in nursing (or country equivalent.)
  • Principal project lead must be a member of either American Nurses Association or Sigma.
  • Proposed EBP project can be inter-professional in design, but must be nurse-led.
  • EBP project implementation site in a clinical setting.
  • IRB approval will be required prior to funding. It is not required to submit a proposal.
  • Must be ready to initiate project when funding is received.
  • Must complete project within eighteen (18) months of funding; no cost extensions are not available for this grant.
  • Included with proposal, a letter of support with contact information for agency/institution affirming consent for the project, must be uploaded and submitted in the appendices section of the application.
  • Submit to ANCC/Sigma a final report; submit a completed abstract or full paper to Sigma's Virginia Henderson Global Nursing e-Repository.
  • Depending on the year, disseminate findings through publications(s), podium or poster presentation at Sigma's research congress, biennial convention and/or ANCC Magnet Conference.
  • Letters of agreement will be emailed on 2 July 2018 to the project lead only after the completed application deadline. Failure to return the completed and signed agreement by the due date noted of 11:59 p.m. in your time zone, on 9 July 2018 will disqualify the application. An application is considered complete when you:
    • have completed step #6 of the application
    • received an automatically generated confirmation from the system
    • have emailed the signed letter of agreement back to the grants coordinator

    There will be no exceptions to completing this step.

  • The 2018 grant recipient or proxy must be present at the ANCC Magnet conference in Denver, Colorado, USA, 24-26 October 2018 to accept the award. Additional details will be forthcoming.
