Career Mentoring and Coaching Program

Do you feel like you are stuck in your career and are not sure of your next steps? Or are you looking to make a difference in developing the next generation of nurse leaders? Sigma’s Career Mentoring and Coaching Program can help!

After registering as a mentee, you can search our directory for a mentor or coach who will help you reach your professional development goals. Career mentoring typically lasts at least six months and is a great option for someone who is looking to work on their overall career development or advancement. Career coaching focuses on a specific project or issue, such as portfolio development, your dissertation, or skill development. This relationship usually lasts three to six months.

Sigma is the premier organization for developing the nurse leaders of tomorrow, and we want you to be a part of it! If you’re interested in being a mentor or coach, it’s easy to sign up on The Circle. Once enrolling, mentees will be able to request you as a mentor or coach. Helping the next generation of nurses is a great way to share the knowledge that you’ve amassed over time!

Nurse Educator Mentoring Program

This comprehensive online course helps schools of nursing engage in a systematic process to guide the development of a mentorship program that is evidence-informed and responsive to the needs of faculty members within their specific academic settings. It is designed to enable schools of nursing to develop, implement, evaluate, and sustain a mentorship program that meets their needs and reflects their values, style, and culture.

Emerging Educational Administrator Institute

Emerging Educational Administrator Institute (EEAI) is an 18-month, international mentored leadership experience for new or aspiring educational administrators. Sponsored by Sigma and Chamberlain University, participants gain knowledge related to the administrator role in academe, including initiation of a personal plan to achieve administrative goals; best practices in action; decision-making and communication; and development as an administrator.

The institute offers:

  • Two in-person workshops
  • Triad model mentorship
  • Site visit at Scholar’s institution 
  • Poster presentation at Sigma's biennial convention
  • Access to four online courses including strategic planning, budgeting, legal issues, and donor securement

Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy

Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy (NFLA) is an 18-month, intense international leadership development experience designed to facilitate personal leadership growth, foster academic career success, promote nurse faculty retention and satisfaction, and create high performing, supportive work environments in academe. Participants gain leadership skills; the ability to plan, implement, and lead team projects; and expand personal influence in the sponsoring institution, community, and the profession.

The academy offers: 

  • Two in-person workshops
  • Two site visits at Scholar’s institution
  • Monthly learning activities
  • Poster presentation at Sigma's biennial convention

Experienced Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy

Experienced Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy (ENFLA) is a 12-month, international mentored leadership experience designed for mid-career nursing faculty. Sponsored by Sigma and Chamberlain University, participants increase their leadership acumen and develop or increase the skills essential for success in an academic leadership role. 

The academy offers: 

  • Two in-person workshops
  • Triad model mentorship
  • Site visit at Scholar’s institution
  • Poster presentation at Sigma's biennial convention
  • Access to Sigma’s online forum, The Circle
