Important Notices

If you’re experiencing issues with downloading or opening files, please follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Download" button to force the file download.
  2. Navigate to your default downloads folder to locate the file.
  3. Right-click on the downloaded file, select “Open with…,” and choose “Adobe Acrobat” to ensure proper viewing.

This process should resolve common file access issues. If you encounter an item record with an audio or video file, you will receive an error message when you complete Step 3. In that case, repeat Step 3 and choose to open the file with a media player.

Platform Transition

  • The transition to the new platform was completed in October 2024, and the site is fully operational.

What are the expanded benefits?

  • Increased browse options. Users will be able to search across all 600+ repositories hosted by Elsevier's Digital Commons.
  • Additional online influence tracking. Authors will have free access to both Altmetric (the current tracking option) and PlumX Metrics.
  • Scopus harvesting. Nursing materials currently contained in the Scopus database will be integrated into the Sigma Repository.
  • Item Showcases.  Groups will have the option to highlight their materials in a curated museum-quality experience.

General Information

  • You don't have to register/login to browse the items in the Sigma Repository. It's true! Just start browsing and searching.
  • Most of the items in the Sigma Repository have attached files that are available to view immediately.
  • Item records containing video files have embedded streaming, eliminating the need to download large files!
  • There are a few item records with files that are embargoed (i.e., locked down for a period of time). These files have clearly designated date availability notations. They represent the minority of item files in this repository. Registering and logging in does not open these files. The files will open to the public on an individually preset date. Usually, 18 to 24 months after the posting date.
