Complex issue of human trafficking explained in Sigma online course

(INDIANAPOLIS) — Nurses and other healthcare providers are often the first to encounter human trafficking victims in their work; but how to identify and help a victim or potential victim can be confusing and even uncomfortable.

This moving and powerful course, Human Trafficking: Providing Meaningful Intervention, provides the essential knowledge of human trafficking and its subsequent issues. It offers a unique view into the lives of men and boys involved in trafficking in Thailand via a video and case study. The course also covers the different types of trafficking, how to spot the red flags, the health problems experienced by victims, and how to intervene to provide meaningful, trauma-informed care. A competency checklist is included for knowledge assessment.
