PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Nurse Educator Mentorship Program is a step-by-step guide for educational or practical institutions to build their own customized, internal mentoring program that is evidence-informed and responsive. It is designed to enable institutions to develop, implement, evaluate, and sustain a customized mentorship program that meets their needs.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Module 1 - Overview of Mentorship

This overview module brings awareness to the importance of mentoring and the necessity of mentoring programs. It not only introduces the program agenda and its components, but also highlights the impact of mentoring programs and the objectives these programs strive to attain.


Module 2 - Looking Out

This module has three components to help assess variables affecting mentoring and programs.

The first component provides an overview of different models of mentorship and delineates the strengths and limitations of each.

The second component highlights publications that describe evidence-informed mentorship programs.

The third component provides tips to assist in completing the external contextual scan and gathering information on demographics and dominant cultures.


Module 3 - Looking In

Looking In provides guidance to assist in defining internal contextual factors and displaying various driving forces or major influences that may affect the institution. These are informative and help guide the development or selection of a mentorship program that is relevant and sustainable.


Module 4 - Making It Happen

From marketing to charters, budgeting to resources, Making It Happen walks the viewer through all of the details of implementation to make each program successful. This module covers the program launch, sustainability strategies, key project elements, relationship strategies, and understanding of the project overall.


Module 5 - Is It Working?

Providing various evaluation and assessment tools, Module 5 helps illustrate progress and promote development, making it easier to establish long term goals and determine success.
