Purpose and Overview

Sigma understands the challenges of transitioning or being new to the world of academia. As faculty roles and expectations continually evolve, the core tenets of scholarship serve to guide nurse educators in their professional development. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Standards for the Initial Education of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Professional Development of Faculty recommendations serve as the curricular framework for this program. In addition, the Faculty Professional Role Development Program:

  • Content is mapped to the WHO Nurse Educator Core Competencies.
  • Can be completed as an entire program or as individual courses that interest you.
  • Features interactive knowledge checks, downloadable resources, and other engaging features.

Program learning outcomes include describing how the scholarships of discovery, teaching, and practice relate to the essential roles and responsibilities of nursing faculty.
