Sessions are open to any steering committee member or developing honor society officer of a group that is pursuing official chapter status. The recommended order of webcasts and adjoining tasks are outlined below.
Consultation with Sigma Staff
It is recommended to consult with staff at least once every quarter throughout your process. Have topics of discussion and a progress report ready prior to submitting a request. Click the purple button below to schedule.
Board members recommended to attend depends on the subject matter discussed. For a general consultation we suggest the president and counselor.

The following trainings are recommended for the elected board members and individuals interested in pursuing these roles in the future. It is recommended to view the below orientations after reviewing the position description.
The president, counselor, and Leadership Succession Committee Chair are recommended to review all orientations listed.
Expectations of Developing Honor Societies and Chapters
In this 30-60 minute presentation, you will be introduced to the Sustainability Pyramid and how its implementation will help you meet the requirements and expectations for ultimately becoming a chapter of Sigma. It is recommended to review the webcast after appointing the board of directors.

Board of Directors Orientation and Overview
Effective board leadership and governance helps to ensure a developing honor society can operate to its fullest capacity. During this presentation, you will learn about the different roles and responsibilities of the board of directors, conflict resolution, and best practices for conducting board meetings. You will walk away with effective tips and strategies for maintaining a healthy board of directors.

Sigma Bylaws 101
What are bylaws? How do you adopt and apply the bylaws to the honor society operations? Join us to get these questions answered and learn how the new changes to the international bylaws affect your honor society. We recommend attending this webcast prior to beginning the "adopt Sigma honor society bylaws template" task.

During this 60 minute presentation, you will learn the membership eligibility requirements for nursing students and professional nurse leaders and how to determine policies and procedures for utilizing the criteria based on the nursing programs your offer at your institution. Are You Ready to Submit the Chapter Charter Application?
During this one-on-one consultation, we will review the "Are You Ready to Apply..." checklist to determine if the developing honor society meets the minimum requirements to submit the application.

Completing the Chapter Charter Application - Tips & advice for applicants starting a new chapter.
- One-on-one consultation to be scheduled 3-6 months before application submission.
During this 60-90 minute interactive presentation, you will learn how to successfully complete a Chapter Charter Application to start a new chapter.

- One-on-one consultation to be scheduled three months before application submission.
Completing the Charter Amendment Application - Tips and advice for chapters adding a new school to their existing charter/schools joining an existing chapter.
During this 60-90 minute interactive presentation, you will learn how to successfully complete a Charter Amendment Application to join an existing chapter.
Recommended board members to attend: President, President-elect (optional), Vice President, Counselor (one from each school) and Treasurer
Anticipating Approval: What to Expect After Application Submission- Beginning the Chartering Ceremony Planning Process
This 45-60 minute presentation will assist in the fine details of what to expect pending application approval and subsequently planning for your official chartering ceremony. It is recommended to review this webcast after submission of your Chapter Charter Application.
Recommended board members to attend: President, Treasurer, Counselor and Induction Ceremony committee (optional).
- One-on-one consultation to be scheduled after application submission.
Notification Meeting to be Scheduled Approximately 2-3 Weeks After Sigma Board Meeting
After receiving the final results from Sigma board of director’s vote on the charter chapter charter application, staff will meet with applicants to share the final results. If approved, staff will discuss the next steps for planning the official chartering ceremony and transition to an official Sigma chapter. If the application is not approved, the staff will work with the developing honor society to make a re-application plan and timeline.

Transition Meeting to be Scheduled Approximately 4 Weeks after the Official Chartering Ceremony
Wrap-up final tasks with chapter development staff including creating the chapter’s official paper charter. Chapter board members will also be introduced to their new chapter support contact and learn how to request additional training on Sigma’s resources for chapter leaders.
