"Attending [the 27th International Nursing Research Congress] enhanced my network, as I was able to connect with many nurse researchers and nurse educators within Africa and [around] the globe. It provided me with opportunities to explore different technologies for enhancing nursing education in both high-income and low-income countries with greater but affordable options. I would like to thank the STTI Foundation for enabling me participate at the Nursing Congress, for making my dream come true."

2016 Leadership Education Grant Recipient
To encourage the advancement of nursing science through research around the globe, the Foundation’s Research Permanent Fund provides funding for small and collaborative research grants
. In 1936, Sigma Theta Tau International funded the first nursing research grant in the United States. Now the Foundation — in collaboration with grant partners and thanks to donations from members, chapters, and friends of nursing — provides more than US $130,000 annually from the research permanent fund in research grants to nurses around the world.
To enable deserving nurses from around the world to participate in STTI leadership and educational programs such as the International Nursing Research Congress and the Biennial Convention, Leadership Education Grants are awarded from the Foundation’s Leadership Fund. The fund also supports membership subsidies to help students accept and members maintain their membership when faced with financial hardships or natural disasters.
To ensure we are the global organization of choice for nursing, donations to the Foundation’s 21st Century Permanent Fund support emerging initiatives that positively impact world health. For example, the Maternal-Child Health Nurse Leadership Academy Africa
— funded by Johnson & Johnson — helps nurses who are improving maternal-child health care outcomes. Additional financial support needed is provided from the 21st Century Fund.
